This is my take on the grass is always greener saying… I did some traveling around the world, LA, NYC, TOKYO, SINGAPORE, NZ etc trying to find a place that better resonated with me and made me happy, but I always found myself longing for home. I’ve written one of my favourite lyrics in this song “Is the insect happy when he gets there?, the light that drew him in his glare then zaps him dead, a bright dream all the other lights seem, blinding you so can’t see that you’re standing on your own light” I think it sums up the lure and fantasy of foreign lands juxtaposed to the warmth and comfort of home.
lyrics
COMING HOME:
The wind forms, a noose around my throat,
Leading everywhere I go,
Howling for home…
New lands shift every other way,
they Never hold the same weight,
As that big old red cake…
Chomp croc in the dark,
Chomp great white shark,
Chomp the southern stars...
The Breeze, gently tugging at my coat,
Say please, encouraging my flow,
Oh I’m coming home…
I am on my way…
Far too long away,
I am on my way...
Now I’m here to stay…
I’m coming home, coming home,
Miss those mandarin mountains and those evergreen trees…
I’m coming home, coming home,
Done with foreign lands and the seven seas...
Is the insect happy when he gets there?
The light that drew him in his glare,
Then zaps him dead…
A bright dream all the other lights seem,
Blinding you so you can’t see,
That you're standing on your own light…
Chomp croc in the dark,
Chomp great white shark,
Chomp the southern stars
The fire burning in my soul,
Must be fed his coal,
Oh I’m coming home...
I am on my way…
Far too long away,
I am on my way...
Now I’m here to stay…
I’m coming home, coming home,
Miss those mandarin mountains and those evergreen trees…
I’m coming home, coming home,
Done with foreign lands and the seven seas...
