Snakes & Ladders is a song born of societal experiences and commentary pertaining to Timi. As he starts to see success in his music career, sycophantic friends from the past emerge (the snakes) to climb the career ladder that they now deem Timi to be. Ironically, the sombre tone of the song is down played through the use of the children's board game metaphor, tongue in cheek lyrics and angsty upbeat guitar riff. The song also has a strong connection to Timi's home country of Australia referencing "falls festival" in December.
